Goals:
Vocabulary: figure
figure - a shape
polygon - a shape that is 2D (flat), is closed (no open sides), and has straight lines (no curves)
regular polygon - a polygon that has side lengths (equilateral) and angles equal (equiangular)
equilateral - all sides are equal length
equiangular - all angles are equal
irregular - a polygon does not have equal sides and angles
triangle - 3 sided figure
quadrilateral - 4 sided figure
pentagon - 5 sided figure
hexagon - 6 sided figure
heptagon or septagon - 7 sided figure
octagon - 8 sided figure
nonagon - 9 sided figure
decagon - 10 sided figure
Know the difference between regular and irregular polygons
Sort shapes by attributes using a Venn Diagram
Just watch the first half. You can stop when it starts to talk about symmetry - unless you'd like a challenge. :)
Optional - If you aren't quite sure what regular and irregular polygons are - watch this video. :)
Goals:
Vocabulary:
I know what a line, line segment, ray, vertex and angle are.
I know what an acute, obtuse, straight, right and reflex angle are.
I can draw and measure angles with a protractor. I know how to place my protractor. I place the dot at the vertex (point). I place one side of the angle on the base line of the protractor. I know which scale to read.
I can draw and measure reflex angles with a protractor.
I estimate the size of an angle to determine if my measurement is correct.
